1.13, the release of the Update Aquatic, is a major update to Java Edition released on July 18, 2018. It overhauls the ocean generation, and makes technical changes. Notably, new ocean-related blocks, such as coral, conduits, kelp, sea pickles, and turtle eggs were added, as well as new items such as buried treasure explorer maps, buckets of fish, hearts of the sea, phantom membranes, tridents, etc. In addition, dolphins, drowned, fish mobs, phantoms, and turtles were added, as well a new buffet world type and new technical aspects to data packs and tags. Due to the update's vast technical changes such as world generation, the update severely degraded the performance of Java Edition.
