1.16.5 is a hotfix to Java Edition released on January 15, 2021, which fixes issues relating to server crashes. Servers running this version are compatible with 1.16.4 clients. This is the first version released in 2021, the last version to officially support Java SE 8, and the last version to support Windows XP, Windows Vista, and macOS versions older than High Sierra (10.13).
